The Guardians

How it began...

The idea for the Guardians rose out of the ashes of September 11th. My family donated to the relief effort and instead of buying gifts that year, we made mixed media wall sculptures, Guardians, created out of reclaimed household items.  They were small and fit in the top of Christmas stockings, meant to honor and protect loved ones.

The World Needs Guardians. I had the honor of showing my work at The Smithsonian Fine Craft show in 2016. I created pieces about tolerance and diversity, immigration, peace and empowerment of the individual voice. All of them found new homes during that show.

Nearly twenty years later, I’ve made and sold thousands, all created out of recycled materials: Inner strength, Service, long life - each one is thematic, and represents our collective human experience.

I show and sell my guardians at national art shows, as well as, through my website. If you are interested in a guardian, please email me for the dimensions, price and availability. Below are the guardians that I currently have available. I am doing fewer shows but am happy to send images or set up a time to meet at my studio.

Thank you, Mary
